Edward Stricklan’s career spans nearly 30 years of hospital, health plan and insurance/financial services experience. In 2010, Mr. Stricklan joined The Henehan Company as Senior Benefits Consultant after a combined 11 years with the Arrowhead Credit Union and Sawyer Cook Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of Arrowhead Credit Union, where he functioned as Life & Health Agent and Vice President of the Life and Health Department. During an 8 year span, he also was employed in a duel role at the Arrowhead Investment Center as a Financial Consultant specializing in group retirement plans for businesses.
Prior to joining the insurance and financial services industry as Agent and Financial Consultant, Mr. Stricklan worked as an Account Executive for Inter Valley Health Plan and as New Business Manager and Vice President of Communications at CIGNA HealthCare of California. He also has a background in hospital sales and marketing where he acted as Director of Marketing for two different Southern California Hospitals, White Memorial Medical Center and CPC Rancho Lindo Psychiatric Hospital.
He is the Past President of the Inland Empire Association of Health Underwriters and has functioned as Treasurer and Program Chair of his local association of health underwriters. Mr. Stricklan was also voted Member of the Year by his local affiliate. Whenever possible, he has advocated for his clients in both Sacramento and Washington, D.C. as it relates to the healthcare reform, compliance requirements and policy issues.
He is active on several boards, the most recent of which is the board of directors for the Provisional Accelerated Learning Center & Charter Academy, a charter school for at risk high school children. Additionally, Mr. Stricklan has become an advocate, for those suffering in silence with mental illness, by being an active board member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness for the Pomona Valley Chapter. The chapter serves the tri-city area of Pomona, Claremont and LaVerne. He also serves as the NAMIWalks Chair for the local NAMIWalks Annual Fundraising Campaign.
Mr. Stricklan and his wife Phyllis are Certified Teachers of a 12 week class called “Family-to-Family”. The program teaches Caregivers how to cope with and care for loved ones who have a chemical brain disorder such as Major Depression, Bi-polar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorders.
Mr. Stricklan received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business from Hampton University and his Masters in Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin. He is married to Phyllis Stricklan, RN, MSN, ESQ., Director, of the Children’s Law Center of Los Angeles. They have been blessed with two children during their 35 years of marriage.
